Our hearts are heavy this week following the devastating news of the death of George Floyd. But rather than sitting back and waiting on the world to change, this is the time to make lasting changes in your own life. Let’s not cancel 2020 and write it off as a horrible year that needs to end; let’s embrace this time of unrest and pain by making it a turning point—to learn, grow and enact real policy changes to prevent and put an end to racial violence against the black community.
We acknowledge that while we do have a racially diverse team, we can do better. We’re listening, reflecting and growing as a result of this movement. Let’s make our pain purposeful and our voices heard so that we can bring light to issues that have been hurting the black community for too long. Now is the time to do your part; just like it is our time to do our part, together. Here, we’re sharing some of our favorite black-owned beauty brands spanning hair care, skin care and cosmetics (listed in alphabetical order), so that we can all support creators and entrepreneurs by making each dollar count. Although there are thousands more we could highlight, this is a start to support brands who are serving an underserved community.
